CRS RICE BOWL—LENT 2015
This season of Lent, Blessed Sacrament parish is participating in Catholic Relief Services’ Rice Bowl as a way of enhancing our Lenten journey. It is also a way for us to live out Pope Francis’ call to end world hunger. CRS Rice Bowl invites Catholics to live in solidarity with our poorest and most vulnerable brothers and sisters through the Lenten pillars of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. 870 million people suffer from hunger. Of this 98% live in the developing world.
If you don’t have a Rice Bowl pick one up at the back of the church and take a flyer for more information.
What you give up for Lent changes lives.

MAKING ALL THINGS NEW
Cardinal Dolan has asked us to implement his directives which grew out of the Making All Things New planning process. His expectation is that all parishes will work with their cluster to implement the plans for collaboration developed last year and his directive to merge certain parishes. Our cluster now includes Blessed Sacrament, St. Paul’s, St. Malachy’s, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Holy Cross and St. John the Baptist parishes. Holy Cross and St. John the Baptist have been directed by the Cardinal to merge.

LET’s BE PROTECTORS OF CREATION
The wonders of the Earth, the beauty of our planet, the gift of natural resources and the human family’s unique role as steward of Creation are all reasons the Church is deeply concerned about the environment.
How we misuse natural resources and abuse the natural environment is often a reflection of how we treat each other. Those in poverty and vulnerablee communities are on the front lines of thre disruptions caused by climate change, like changin weather patterns which affect crops. Pope Francis has called us to be protectors of the environment and each other.
