PATH TO THE STILL CENTER
Come join us every Thursday at 5:30pm in the Rectory. We are following the teachings of Dom John Main, OSB and Father Lawrence Freeman, OSB, Director of the World Community for Christian Meditation. The meeting includes a short taped talk, a silent meditation of 30 minutes and a time for questions or another short reading. It ends at 7:00pm. NO FEE. BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT
On the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month we have Bereavement Support Groups - General Bereavement at 5:30 p.m. and Perinatal Loss (for individuals and couples who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death) at 6:30 p.m. Both groups meet in the Rectory. For more information, please call 212-877-3111. No registration is required. There is no fee.



VISITING FRIENDS PROGRAM
Our new Visiting Friends Program is up and running with great success. Volunteers are visiting homebound people in the neighborhood, bringing the comfort of companionship and social interaction. Flyers are available in the back of the church with information on the program. If you know of someone (friend, relative or neighbor) who might benefit from and welcome a visitor, please email us at [email protected].–be sure to put “Visiting Friends Program” in the subject box. You can also leave the information at the Rectory.



LET’S BE PROTECTORS OF CREATION
The wonders of the Earth, the beauty of our planet, the gift of natural resources and the human family’s unique role as steward of Creation are all reasons the Church is deeply concerned about the environment. How we misuse natural resources and abuse the natural environment is often a reflection of how we treat each other. Those in poverty and vulnerable communities are on the front lines of the disruptions caused by climate change, like changing weather patterns which affect crops. Pope Francis has called us to be protectors of the environment and each other.



BAPTISM PREPARATION CLASS
The Baptism preparation class will take place on September 8th at 7:30pm in the rectory. And on Sunday, September 20th we will have the Sacrament of Baptism at 2:00pm.



BOOK CLUB
Our next book club meets Sept. 9th from 6:30 to 8:00pm in the rectory. We’ll be reading “The Moviegoer”, winner of the 1961 National Book Award, written by Walker Percy, one of the most significant Catholic Southern writers of the 20th Century. It’s a short novel, humorous but at the same time raising important questions about the purpose of life. Do we sometimes treat life like watching a movie, instead of living it? What can we do to find happiness without being sunk in the “everydayness” of life?



COLLECTION
Thank you so very much for your generous response to the needs of the parish. Our collection last Sunday was $5,903. $3,102 was received through ParishPay for a total of $9,005.



SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES
Will begin on Sunday September 13 with the 10:00 am Family Mass in the Church. Religious instruction is held in the school after the Family Mass until 12:15.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE WAS JULY 27... SOME CLASSES ARE FILLED.. We will accept late registrations for unfilled classes until Sept. 1. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD FROM SEPTEMBER 2 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 13. REGISTRATION WILL REOPEN ON SEPTEMBER 14.

Re-registration forms have been mailed to current students. Forms for new students can be picked up at the parish office or found on the Sunday School website: www.blessedsacramentsundayschool.org



SUNDAY SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

FIRST FRIDAY
This coming Friday, September 4th, is the First Friday of the month. We have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the 12:10pm Mass and adoration during the afternoon. We close with the Benediction at 5:15pm. Please come and spend some time in prayer.

PAX CHRISTI METRO NEW YORK
Pax Christi Metro New York, September 11th for Peaceful Tomorrows, the Loretto Community, the Curran Center AT Fordham University, and Westchester Interfaith Connection invite you to a commemoration of September 11th, 2001 and UN International Peace Day. In honor of these important days we will be showing the film “In our Son’s Name” about the transformation that Phyllis and Orlando Rodriguez experienced after their son Greg died in the World Trade Center. This moving portrait of a positive response to violence challenges conventional concepts of healing and justice. Phyllis and Orlando will be with us to facilitate discussion.
