SECOND COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND June 10, 2018 Soup Kitchen Blessed Sacrament’s Soup Kitchen meets every Sunday at 2PM on 70
th Street. Staffed by many wonderful parish volunteers, the Soup Kitchen prepares delicious meals for locals in need.
FATHER’S DAY Father’s Day, May 17th, is next Sunday. The names of the fathers will be placed at the altar and prayed for at all the Masses throughout Sunday and the following week. Please be certain to have the names of those you wish to honor into the Rectory Office no later than Thursday. Please indicate clearly if they are living or deceased.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Our Sunday School Classes for this year ended on May 20 with a Family Day. Family members were invited to attend their child’s class for a review of the year, receive their child’s Progress Reports, and join us for a buffet of cheese, crackers, bagels, fruit, and sweets.
Sunday School will begin again on
September 9. Registration Packets will be emailed to the parents of current students at the end of June and posted on the Sunday School website. Paper copies will also be available at the rectory. You must register your child each year. Please register by August 1.

We are so very grateful for the 22 Classroom Catechists and Assistants, 11 Youth Assistants, 13 substitutes and event coordinators, and 4 Team members who monitor the school door, halls, and logistics. Without these generous and dedicated volunteers we would not be able to have our Religious Education Sunday Program for children.

CARDINAL’S ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP APPEAL Thank you to all who have pledged and donated to this year’s Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal. Our parish goal is $134,000, of which 163 of our parishioners have already pledged $70,391. The Cardinal’s Appeal supports six main areas: Mission and Evangelization, Needy Parishes, Catholic Schools and Religious Education, Works of Charity, Caring for Retired Priests and Religious, Clergy Formation. “…whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an everlasting sin."
Such a tough message in Sunday’s Gospel this week! What does it even mean? At least one explanation says that to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit is to deny the work of the Spirit in Jesus and, beyond that, to reject the grace and mercy of the Spirit. Think of Judas who tradition tells us committed suicide in despair for his betrayal of Jesus. So, blaspheming against the Holy Spirit isn’t about God withholding forgiveness, but about us refusing forgiveness. Consequently, let us not lose hope. Rather, remember Sunday’s responsorial psalm:
With God there is mercy, and fullness of redemption.
