The Paschal Candle is offered to the glory of God in memory of
Wayne Dankert.
Please remember him in your prayers
The paschal candle, a symbol of the presence of the risen Christ among the people of God, remains in the sanctuary near the altar from Easter through Pentecost. It is lit for all liturgical functions.
BOOK CLUB
The next book club will meet on April 30 in the rectory at 6:30. The book chosen is "To Kill a Mockingbird," what one critic called one of the most widely read novels in the 20th Century dealing with race in America. The book contains important themes other than racial injustice, such as the exploration of the moral nature of human beings, that is, whether the ultimate moral lesson is that the existence of evil is balanced by faith in the essential goodness of mankind as well as the theme of courage and compassion in the context of understanding others. Hope to see many of us there in a discussion which will hopefully prove interesting as well as part of our journey as Christians.
COLLECTION OF RICE BOWLS
Our Lenten journey with the CRS Rice Bowl comes to an end on Easter Sunday. Social Action Committee members and fellow parishioners will collect your rice bowls at the church entrance. You can always turn in your Rice Bowl at the rectory. If you made an online donation please let us know so that we can include it in our totals. 75% of your donation will go to Catholic Relief Services programs serving the poorest of the poor overseas. 25% will go towards NY archdiocesan projects that minister to the poor and vulnerable in our own community. We would also like to hear how Rice Bowl enhanced your Lenten journey. Please write down your thoughts and put it in your Rice Bowl.
